In 2006, Daniel McCarthy graduated from University College Dublin with an honours degree in Philosophy and Archaeology. Previously he graduated from the Limerick College of Art having obtained a 1st Honours Degree in Visual Art and Teaching. Daniel worked as an art teacher for 20 years. His work includes abstract and traditional imagery in pencil and oils. During the years his work has moved away from the traditional expression of form towards a more abstract colour oriented style. He is working on a new series of large abstract landscape paintings in oils. Archaeological myth and ritual, in combination with philosophical thought processes are the prime influences that find expression in these recent works.
Due to the scale of Daniel's artworks, they are best viewed in proportion to other objects in a room. For this reason, the artwork images are displayed as hung in a sample environment.
